Jade Cartwright shoot

Jade and I had talked about doing a shoot for a while and we finally managed to co-ordinate our diaries for a shoot on a snowy evening in February. The location was a restaurant very close to where I work which has some great areas for shooting with subdued lighting creating the type of ambient light I was looking for . This was the first time I’d worked with Jade and her professionalism shines through right from the get go.

Using mostly one or sometimes two off camera  strobes and a softbox we were able to create mood and drama to the images. Some of the other guests did wonder what was going on but as it was a Sunday night it was fairly quiet and we were able to work without being to disruptive to the diners. Jade knows instinctively how to work a location and its so easy when you can direct a model that already has the feel and vibe of a place nailed .

Here are a few of my favourite shots from the night . If you’re keen to find out about using off camera flash to add drama to your images then check out the Flash photography course on  Fri 12 July 2013 based in Manningtree Essex where we’ll be working with a pro model and using both indoor and outdoor locations. Course fee is £250 and includes lunch and refreshments, drop me a line if you’re interested.
